Made of several inlaid or engraved colored clays they seem to have been discovered in archaecological as Jean Cocteau wished digs.

They will be displayed in the windows of our gallery up to summer exhibitions.

Exhibition "L'artiste et sa ligne"

From July 5th to September 27th

Extracted from the book "The difficulty of being" Jean Cocteau depicted what was an artist's line.
"What is the line ? It's life. The line must live through each point of its way, so that the artist's presence stands out more than his model's".
This line that he recognized as well as from a painter, a writer and a musician represented : "the permanence of the personality [...] the style of the soul".
This line is what touchs us while looking at a piece of art.
Cocteau wrote, Cocteau drew, firmly following a line that he was dreading to lose, he created totally concentrated, his rapidity of creation was impressive.
The gallery exhibits some works matched with their sketches. Everyone could notice the constant worry of the artist about making a pure line.
